His background includes studies in musical disciplines (Organ, Composition and Choral conducting), in Human Sciences (Philosophy, Pedagogy and Cognitive Science) and medical formation (Music Therapy). In 2009 he was nominated Expert in Music Education for the Canton Ticino. His role includes research, testing of school programs and training of music teachers.
In 2012 he started a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Benno Boccadoro (Faculty of Arts - Musicology) and Prof. Didier Grandjean (Swiss Center for Affective Sciences) at the University of Geneva. The thesis aims to analyze the links between music and learning in pre-adolescents and adolescents, and especially the effects of music education on cognitive function, socio-emotional competences and motor skills. He is also interested in relationship between musical emotion, cognition and behavioral modification in the school environment.
