Prof. Dimitri Konstantas is Professor at the University of Geneva, director of the Information Science Institute of the Geneva Shool of Economics and Management. He is presently coordinator of the European project AVENUE, targeting in the deployment of Autonomous Vehicles for public transportation. Prof. Konstantas has a more than 30 year experience in networks, multimedia, Information security and mobile applications, having created 3 start-ups and served as advisor to several European companies and governments.

 

Dr Sébastien Ziegler is a founder and the Director General of Mandat International. He serves as President of the IoT Forum and IoT Lab, as Chair of the EuroPrivacy international board of experts, as Vice Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Subcommittee on the IoT, and as Rapporteur on Emerging Technologies for the IoT and for smart cities at the ITU (SG20).

Sébastien has a PhD in Management with a specialization in Information Systems at the Faculty of Economy and Management of the University of Geneva. He graduated in International Relations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, followed by a Master in Environment, an MBA in international administration (HEC Geneva), and complementary executive courses at Harvard Business School in Boston, Stanford University, UC Berkeley and EPFL.

He is an expert in data protection accredited for EuroPrivacy, EuroPriSe and ISO 27001 certifications. Sébastien founded several foundations, organizations and companies, and he initiated several international research projects in the area of ICT, with a focus on the Internet of Things, IPv6, and privacy. He is currently coordinating and associated to several ongoing European research projects and is co-directing the Master in Advanced Studies on the Internet of Things at the University of Geneva.

With a multi-disciplinary academic profile, combining international law, science, and economics, he is a relentless promoter of research, innovation and international cooperation.

 

Nuria de Lama studied Telecommunications Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She has spent more than 20 years working with Innovation in different technology environments. In the last 10 years her focus has been on platform ecosystems, IoT and Big Data.

Since 2010 she holds the position of European Programs Manager at Atos, coordinating the Strategy of Atos Research & Innovation in European collaborative research. She combines the technology background with good knowledge on policy and vertical domains (especially smart cities, industry 4.0 and agrifood), which she currently uses in the context of Digital Transformation activities.

She was one of the active founders of the Big Data Value Public Private Partnership, where she played the role of Vice-Secretary General of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) until she got elected as Member of the Board of Directors. She coordinates the Steering Committee of such initiative (40+ active projects) and contributes to projects like BDVe (Big Data Value ecosystem) and DataBench (Big Data benchmarks). She is member of the Organizing Committee of several Big Data events such as the European Big Data Value Forum and acts as external advisor to several projects, including I-BiDaaS (Industrial-Driven Big Data as a Self-Service Solution), Data Pitch (a program for Startups to innovate with data) or NGIoT (roadmap for new generation IoT).

Along her career she has worked in more than 40 R&I projects; she has acted as independent expert for the European Commission in many occasions as proposal evaluator, project reviewer and rapporteur, and has a long track record of participation as speaker in international conferences and events

 

Giuseppe Fico is working with the most important stakeholders in healthcare (research academies and institutions, to large industries, SMEs and startups, public and private institutions, associations and societies) in flagship research, innovation, strategic and policy initiatives, aiming to improve outcomes in health and social care systems, such as:

He is author of more than 50 scientific publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences.

 

Dr Pasquale Annicchino is an expert in personal data protection. He is specialized in Comparative Public Law, European Law and Data Protection.

He received his Ph.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Siena and an LL.M. from University College London where he also served as Editor in Chief of the UCL Human Rights Review. 

Pasquale studied in several other universities in Europe and the United States: Charles University in Prague, the European Academy of Legal Theory, Emory Law School. He also served as visiting or adjunct professor in various universities in the United States and in Europe such as the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He recently qualified as Associate Professor of Law in Italy. He is a member of the GDPR observatory at the review “Rivista Diritto di Internet, Digital Copyright e Data Protection”

Pasquale is a Data Protection Officer for several IoT related research projects. He published articles on international law reviews and journals and contributed to several European research projects.

 

Cédric Crettaz is an engineer for industrial systems, specialised in embedded systems. He received his engineering degree from the School of Engineering in Sion, Switzerland. After his diploma thesis about the transmission of data using Power Line Communication (PLC), he worked in the industry and then as assistant at the School of Engineering in Sion for several national research projects.

Since 2011, Cédric has contributed to many European research projects related to the Internet of Things (IoT), IPv6 and home automation including F-Interop, Fed4FIRE+, Synchronicity. He took part in the development of the online platform IoT Lab, which allows online experiments with connected objects (IoT).

Cédric has acquired a wide and varied experience in the field of IoT, particularly in terms of protocols, integration and interoperability. In the frame of the SynchroniCity European project on smart cities, he is in charge of the integration of different types of sensors deployed in the city of Carouge using the Universal Device Gateway (UDG) platforms and components from FIWARE.

Moreover, Cédric is actively collaborating for many years in the Universal Device Gateway (UDG) development. He is also involved in the FIWARE community whose goal is to build an open and sustainable ecosystem for the creation of advanced applications, especially for smart cities, mainly in Europe.
