Objectives

  • Develop the next generation of sports managers and leaders who plan to work in the sport sector: International Sports Federations, the International Olympic Committee, Games Organising Committees as well as sports companies and agencies.

Audience

Aspiring sports manager wishing to broaden their knowledge in sports administration and to achieve a stronger skill set for an existing or desired career in the sports industry.

More than 650 AISTS alumni constitute a network of professionals represented in the many sectors of sport in Switzerland and on all continents: sports federations, organising committees of major sports events, sports equipment industry, marketing and sponsoring agencies, start-ups, etc. These include IOC, FIFA, UEFA, FIS, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Free Ride World Tour, Nike, Adidas, Swiss Timing, InFront Sports & Media, etc

Learning outcomes

Sport managers today need a broad knowledge base to understand the various issues facing sport organisations and federations. With this in mind, the academy’s primary goal is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to sports management education. To accomplish this goal, the AISTS applies the following scientific Modules to sport:

Programme

The 15-month programme includes lectures led by academics and industry experts, workshops, case studies, activities, field trips. Practical and hands-on opportunities include:

  • 9 month courses
  • A team project with a real client
  • 8 weeks’ work experience in the sports industry
  • An academic research paper
  • Workshops for career development in sport management

The AISTS MAS in Sports Administration programme was established in 2003, and provides the foundation knowledge for a career as a sports administrator. The programme covers Sports Management & Economics, Technology, Law, Sociology and Medicine. Based at the UNIL campus, in the Synathlon.

Admission criteria

  • Participants must possess a Master's degree with a minimum of two years of experience linked to sport
  • In case of a Bachelor's degree, the participants must have a minimum of five years of significant experience linked to sport
  • Participants must be planning to pursue a career in the sports world
  • Participants must be fluent in English as all lectures are given in English
  • Participants should have a minimum of two years of professional work experience
  • Participants must complete the online application form and attach all requested documentation
