About
Lucía Ormaechea Grijalba is currently a PhD Candidate (Candoc) at the Department of Translation Technology (referred to by its French acronym TIM). Her main research focuses on the development of Speech-to-Pictograph translation systems and falls within the framework of PROPICTO, a collaborative project between the University of Geneva and the University of Grenoble Alpes.
Before joining the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, she graduated from University of Navarre (Spain) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hispanic Philology and earned a Master’s Degree in Natural Language Processing from Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (Paris, France). Lucía also contributed to the BabelDr project with the development of an open source based French Speech Recognition system as part of her master’s thesis project, which was conducted at the Grenoble Informatics Laboratory.
