Nowadays, life in a Southeast Asian city doesn't seem complete without air conditioning. Whether they be shopping malls or apartment blocks, buildings in the region are designed to be air-conditioned, but this enthusiasm for air conditioning neglects the economic, social, and environmental costs of the practice. Prof. Marlyne Sahakian explores some innovative ways for Southeast Asians to stay cool.
