Access to clean Water and Food

Problem Solver - Urban water resilience

My solution deals with the mindset shift required to achieve water access for all. Flood hazards are the most frequently occurring natural disasters globally and the world seems to battle with periodic cycles of water logging followed by droughts. I've proposed a mechanism for selecting and using localised "decentralised nature based solutions" to absorb stormwater runoffs to replenish the ground water table which are applicable in domestic, local and national scales. However, a basic knowledge of local site conditions is necessary to implement the right type of low impact development measures to avoid aggravating the situation. Overall, if people's mindset can shift from a flood mitigation perspective to a water sustainability perspective, access to clean water for all can be made possible.
