There are a lot of protection programmes for the different (animals) species, there are centres and sanctuaries to welcome them. No centre exists in France for marine mammals. We are putting off the problem. We send captive animals to neighbouring countries, and we send stranded animals out to sea without prior care or rest. We close dolphinariums and between 8,000 and 10,000 cetacean deaths are reported each winter (stranded animals and those that they sink directly that we do not see) There is a worsening of this phenomenon since the year 2016. Our future project for a marine life protection centre in the Landes will have a considerable effect on marine mammals. Receiving animals in distress, having a reception centre for marine mammals from parks that are closing or for sea lions from circuses, stabilising the populations, accompanying the laws with our experience, doing education and awareness-raising, offering a resting place for exhausted wild animals, putting our experienced vet into action for marine mammals that need it, and implementing our conservation plan to preserve the populations. It's not just about opening the door of a cage and letting them go, it's not about criticizing without doing anything, it's not about lamenting what's happening... Right now for marine mammals, we want to take shortcuts, to start with the end, to put a band-aid on the problems, Cetasea wants to move forward with the experience of the team, to work on a case-by-case basis, for each individual. Let's visualise it this way: let's imagine that a great ape such as the orang-utan is reintroduced into a deteriorated forest... reintroducing a dolphin into the ocean should therefore raise some questions Protecting marine mammals means protecting biodiversity and caring for well-being as a whole. We will operate as a rehabilitation facility, commonly referred to as a "sanctuary" for marine mammals, as there are for other species. We plan to build this marine life protection centre in the Landes with our team of marine mammal professionals (veterinarians, carers, biologists, researchers...).

 

Il existe énormément de programmes de protection pour les différentes espèces, il existe des centres et sanctuaires pour les accueillir. Aucun centre existe en France pour les mammifères marins. Nous repoussons le problème. Les animaux captifs, nous les envoyons chez les voisins, les animaux échoués, nous les repoussons au large sans soins ni repos au préalable. Nous fermons les delphinariums et entre 8 000 et 10 000 morts de cétacés auraient lieu chaque hiver (animaux échoués et ceux qu'ils coulent directement que l'on ne voit pas) Il y a une aggravation de ce phénomène depuis l’année 2016. Notre futur projet de centre de protection de la vie marine dans les Landes aura un effet considérable pour les mammifères marins. Accueillir les animaux en détresse, avoir un centre d’accueil pour les mammifères marins des parcs qui ferment ou pour les otaries issues des cirques, stabiliser les populations, accompagner les lois avec notre expérience,faire de l'éducation et de la sensibilisation, proposer un espace de repos pour les animaux sauvages épuisés, mettre en action notre vétérinaire expérimentée pour les mammifères marins qui en ont besoin, et mettre en œuvre notre plan de conservation pour préserver les populations. Il ne s’agit pas seulement d’ouvrir la porte d’une cage et de les laisser partir, il ne s’agit pas de critiquer sans rien faire, il ne s’agit pas de se lamenter sur ce qui se passe… Actuellement pour les mammifères marins, on veut prendre des raccourcis, commencer par la fin, mettre un sparadrap sur les problèmes, Cetasea veut avancer avec l’expérience de l’équipe, travailler au cas par cas, pour chaque individu. Visualisons ainsi : imaginons qu'un grand singe tel l'orang-outang soit réintroduit dans une forêt détériorée... réintroduire un dauphin dans l'océan devrait dès lors soulever quelques questions Protéger les mammifères marins, c’est protéger la biodiversité et se soucier du bien-être dans son ensemble. Nous fonctionnerons comme installation de réadaptation, communément appelée «sanctuaire » pour les mammifères marins, comme il en existe pour les autres espèces. Nous projetons de réaliser ce centre de protection de la vie marine dans les Landes avec notre équipe de professionnels de mammifères marins. (vétérinaire, soigneurs, biologistes, chercheurs...
