Celebrating 1 million students for the online courses of GFRI!
On 30 September 2021, the Geneva Finance Research Institute celebrated its Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on Investment Management reaching over 1 million students around the world!
Launched in 2016, and developed in partnership with UBS, the 4 MOOCs and capstone form a specialization titled: “Make Smart Investment Decisions in a Global World”, directed by Dr. Michel Girardin.
The specialization offers participants an understanding of how investment strategies are designed to reach financial goals in a global context, and how a wealth-generating investment portfolio functions in practice.
The event also provided the opportunity to present a similar course in French in the format of a ECTS credit awarding Small Private Online Course (SPOC), developed with Fédération des Entreprises Romandes (FER Genève).
Following welcoming addresses by Prof. Tony Berrada, Director of Geneva Finance Research Institute, Mr. David Graça, Head of Private clients at UBS Geneva center and Mr. Luc Abbé-Decarroux, managing director at FER Genève, Dr. Michel Girardin presented both online courses under the title “What room for story telling in education ?”
His presentation was followed by a roundtable discussion on the future of education post pandemic, with Dr. Jean-Yves Mercier, Director of pedagogical innovation at University of Geneva and the founders of Dreamscape Immersive company (Ronald Menzel and Antoine Pictet) which explained the role of virtual reality in teaching.
The 1 millionth student was announced live during the event: Mrs Elena Shostatskaya, from Odessa in Ukraine, won a cheque of USD 1’500 for education purposes.
