GSEM working from home: Sun Zuchuat-Ji, Program Manager, Executive Education

How do GSEM members experience lockdown and telework? Today, Sun Zuchuat-Ji, Program Manager, GSEM Executive Education, shares her experience:

How is your work going, remotely?

My work is going very well, thanks to the various platforms through which we communicate and organize our work sessions. Although I am often solicited by my colleagues via these platforms, I accomplish more during the day than when I was at the office, because I have fewer unannounced visits and meetings are organized in advance. In addition, having plenty of space at home, I can work efficiently with my laptop and two large screens.

What has the situation changed for you?

I can concentrate better since there are fewer interruptions in my work. Although my workload is greater, my time is optimized more efficiently between my work and the support to my colleagues. Finally, I no longer have the stress of commuting to the office (2 x 1 hour).

What has been your biggest challenge since the beginning of the lockdown?

Forcing me to wear something else than jogging suits!

What are the unexpected benefits?

The contact with my colleagues is fast and efficient via zoom / cisco.
I am serene, my eyes no longer hurt and the quality of my skin has improved.

What do you miss the most?

Physical contact with friends and family.

What do you like best?

No more stress caused by commuting to and from work. And I have time to exercise.

An advice to cope with confinement?

  • Stay in virtual contact with colleagues and friends
  • Take short breaks during the day to stretch your legs
  • Exercise regularly

What are the 3 words that describe your state of mind during this period?

Serenity, efficiency, well-being.

What will you retain after the lockdown?

Teleworking has a lot of positive points. If University of Geneva allows it, I’d be happy to continue teleworking 2-3 days a week after the de-confinement, and I’d try to continue exercising if time permits.
I will keep my distance as much as possible when commuting on public transport between the office and home.

One final word?

Thanks to the support of our management and the team spirit of my colleagues, the confinement went very well on a professional level.

Thank you Sun!

Sun is the Program Manager of the GSEM Executive Education.
