On 26 and 27 April 2021, the Geneva School of Economics and Management’s Master program in Commodity Training hosted a speed recruitment meeting.

The event brought together students and representatives from member companies of the Swiss Trading and Shipping Association (STSA) to assist students in finding an internship for their studies. The Master of Science in Commodity Trading is a unique program in Europe with a mandatory traineeship for the whole duration of the master.

Students had the opportunity to meet several companies linked to the commodity trading industry such as banks, audit, inspection, shipping, and trading companies, before being given 9 minutes to convince the recruiters to give them a second interview. The format of this event enabled companies to meet with as many as 60 candidates over the two afternoons. This year, the event took place online for the first time. Fourteen companies participated, and 86 students from around the world connected to the session.

The GSEM’s Master of Science in Commodity Trading focuses on the financing of resources, products, and the trade flows of goods. The program includes courses in relevant areas of economics, such as credit analysis, financial instruments, and means of payment for different transactions. Shipping, legal aspects, the protection of goods, and risk management are also addressed.
