High-quality teaching, inclusion, and innovation drives growth of MOOCs

The Geneva School of Economics and Management's Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offer state-of-the-art distance education in the fields of economics, management, statistics, and finance, and the expertise and innovative teaching methods of the Faculty continue to drive the program's success. As of July 2021, the MOOC on Investment Management had reached over 1 million students around the world!

In 2015, the GSEM's Geneva Finance Research Institute was awarded the tender to be the academic partner of UBS on their MOOC project. Under the directorship of Dr. Michel Girardin, the 4 MOOCs and capstone form a specialization; Investment Management - Make Smart Investment Decisions in a Global World, which is ranked in the top 6 business specializations on the Coursera platform. This course allows learners to understand how investment strategies are designed to reach financial goals in a global context.

In addition to this specialization, the GSEM offers two other highly ranked MOOCs:

International Organizations Management
With a focus on cross-sector partnerships in a changing world, the course offers insights into International Organizations and the United Nations' inner workings and challenges. Participants learn state-of-the-art management tools and principles taught by the international organizations’ senior staff.

Global Statistics - Composite indicators for international comparisons
Launched in 2018 in collaboration with ETH Zürich KOF, this course is designed to acquire an understanding of composite indicators, indices that are often used to measure and compare countries’ development. Participants will learn how to construct and handle composite indicators, as well as how to carefully interpret existing ones.
