The end of summer marks the beginning of a new academic year and the GSEM is looking forward to the fall semester, which sees a full return to in-person teaching and learning activities.

An increase in student activity is always a welcome sign that a new semester is upon us, and the Uni Mail campus came alive last week through the events of the University of Geneva’s Welcome Days, Data Science Day, and the GSEM Mathematics Preparatory School, which this year featured an innovative format combining individualized online revision and face-to-face question sessions.

The first week of the academic year features Welcome Sessions for students of the Bachelor in Economics and Management, the Complementary Certificate in Applied Statistics, the Ph.D. programs, and the Master programs. For some, this is an opportunity to discover their new School, and for others, a chance to continue their academic journey.

To further support its Bachelor students, the GSEM is hosting a series of pedagogical workshops that aim to prepare them for their first year at the School. The workshops showcase the specificities of economics and management studies, as well as the practical aspects such as note-taking and revision.

University is not a journey students need to take alone. The Student Services department is available to answer questions and provide resources to ensure students have an optimal experience. Earlier this year, the GSEM launched a personalized intranet for its students. The online platform functions as a resource hub and offers students personalized support and a range of services that can be accessed at any time.

The School also offers a comprehensive seminar and workshop series that provide discovery and exchange opportunities on current research in the fields of economics, econometrics, management, statistics, and finance.

In addition, GSEM students can benefit from the University of Geneva Library’s short training sessions (online and in-person) on activities related to scientific publications and the management of research data. Resources concerning careers, activities, sport, and social integration are offered through the University’s “Vie de campus”.

Lastly, an easy way for learners to stay informed on the latest research, news, and developments from the School, Faculty, and fellow students, is to connect with the GSEM through its LinkedIn and Facebook pages.

The GSEM warmly welcomes its students and colleagues, both new and returning, and looks forward to a successful and enriching academic year!
