Management students facilitate Internet access worldwide
The Center of Innovation and Partnerships co-directed by GSEM Professor Tina Ambos has collaborated with the Giga Initiative created by United Nations Children's Fund and the International Telecommunication Union. Specializing in fostering knowledge on innovation and cross-sector partnerships within the Geneva ecosystem, the Center catalyzes innovation, nurtures learning-based collaborations across private and public organizations, and disseminates impactful ideas.
As a result, the students of the GSEM’s Master in Responsible Management program, particularly the Global Strategy course, were tasked with working with industry experts to develop innovative strategies and sustainable models to support Giga’s work connecting schools around the globe to the internet. Each team had one semester to develop their ideas, which they presented to a panel of experts at the end of the academic year. Throughout the semester the course also welcomed guest speakers from different backgrounds for discussions, roundtables, and presentations highlighting the School’s Geneva Advantage, and inspiring students with their Giga projects.
The challenge gave students a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge they had acquired in class and turn it into real-world skills. One student confirmed: “Working on the GIGA project made us take a deep dive into the Geneva Ecosystem. The project was challenging, but it provided us with lots of insights into the ecosystem's interconnectedness and the potential to drive impact through collaboration. We hope that our recommendations will help Giga carve out a unique and impactful role within this ecosystem.”
