Giacomo De Giorgi Appointed to the Founding Board of the International Development Economics Association

Professor Giacomo De Giorgi has been appointed as a Founding Member of the International Development Economics Association (IDEA), a newly established association created in 2026, and serves on its Board of Directors.

IDEA is an international association that brings together leading development economists from around the world to promote research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in development economics. Founded by 89 economists representing institutions across six global regions, the association reflects a broad and diverse international network. Its activities include conferences, collaborative initiatives, and career development opportunities, supported by committees dedicated to areas such as finance, membership, program development, partnerships, and career development.

IDEA is governed by a Board of Directors composed of officers, regional representatives, and at-large members. Within this framework, Professor De Giorgi serves as an At-Large Member representing Europe for the 2026–2028 term. In this capacity, he contributes to the strategic orientation of the association and supports its mission to advance research and policy dialogue in development economics.

Giacomo De Giorgi is a Full Professor at the Institute of Economics and Econometrics. His research focuses on Economic Development, Labour Economics, Household Finance, and Entrepreneurship.
