Geneva 2031 Futures Exhibition: Imagining the Future of Geneva's Neighborhoods

The Geneva Responsible Entrepreneurship Center (GREC) considers that the future of a city is not defined solely through reports, but is also shaped by the capacity of stakeholders to envision its development.

Within this context, students enrolled in the Master in Responsible Management, as part of the Entrepreneurship Lab course, undertook a structured reflection and practical project. Over the course of the semester, student teams collaborated closely with local entrepreneurs, associations, and municipal authorities across three Geneva districts—Carouge, Pâquis, and Lancy—to develop concrete, collective strategies aimed at strengthening social cohesion and enhancing neighborhood livability. Their work was presented at the Geneva 2031 Futures Exhibition, held on 18 May 2026 in the Uni Mail Hall.

Rather than relying on a traditional presentation format, each team designed an immersive installation enabling visitors to explore potential neighborhood scenarios for 2031. In Lancy, participants engaged in a simulated neighborhood apéritif on Place des Ormeaux, illustrating a concept of recurring community gatherings designed to foster social connections and a sense of shared ownership. On Rue de Carouge, an installation composed of 30 photographs, accompanied by audio narration, presented the evolution of the area and highlighted key phases of its transformation. In Pâquis, visitors viewed a short film depicting the neighborhood in 2031, complemented by a tasting of a yuzu-flavored gelato developed through a local collaboration, as well as an interactive activity inviting participants to imagine new forms of partnerships among local businesses.

The exhibition brought together students, local entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, and residents of Geneva. It forms part of GREC’s broader mission to explore the role of entrepreneurship in shaping places and communities. It also contributes to the development of KAIROS, a dedicated space currently being established in Geneva to support collaboration between students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and public stakeholders around initiatives with social and territorial impact.
