The University of Geneva launches a platform to promote its female talents
To address the under-representation of female profiles across media channels, the University of Geneva has created « Les expertes de l'UNIGE », a new platform to promote the visibility of the profiles of the University’s female specialists.
Several members of the GSEM are featured in this database of expertise such as Professor Tina Ambos, whose areas of expertise include entrepreneurship and innovation for social impact; Professor Katarzyna Wac, an expert on issues related to digital health and quality of life assessment methods, and Nadia Magnenat Thalmann, who specializes in research on social humanoid robots and virtual humans.
The platform also highlights young female researchers. Ph.D. candidates Ane Casajus, Kateryna Fomina, and Suzana Mesquita contribute with their knowledge of corporate philanthropy; artificial intelligence, and blockchain infrastructure respectively.
At launch, close to 800 female researchers and specialists from the scientific and institutional domains are available on the platform. The aim is to allow journalists or event organizers to find and access female profiles quickly and easily. Eventually, the platform intends to evolve, with an English version and training sessions for its profiles on speaking in the media.
