Professors Diego Kuonen, Christina Hertel, and Senior Lecturer Thomas Maillart have been recognized for the quality of their teaching at the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM). This recognition is part of the introduction of two new awards in 2024 to honor the engagement and impact of the faculty members and replace the former GSEM Teaching Award.

The jury, chaired by Professor François Grey, Vice Dean for Pedagogical Innovation, includes the Director of the Bachelor Program and the Directors of the Master’s Programs.

Professor Diego Kuonen received the "GSEM Teaching Engagement Award" for the Bachelor course Business Analytics, attended by around 200 students, which he has organized since 2020 in a flipped classroom format. In this course, students prepare sessions via Moodle, pose questions using the Speak Up and Pingo applications, and actively participate during class. They also write summaries at home for self-assessment. This initiative introduced interactive learning and analytics methods, techniques and practices while fostering critical thinking on the application of data analytics.

Professor Christina Hertel and Dr. Thomas Maillart were awarded the "GSEM Teaching Impact Award" for their 4EU+ Intra and Entrepreneurial Project Management Program. This international course brings together 70 doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career professionals from six partner universities from the 4EU+ Alliance and five partner companies, aiming to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and support domain experts in transitioning to industry. The program combines a bootcamp, online courses, industry-proposed group projects, and a final conference.
