13 September 2021 | 17:30-19:00 | Uni Mail (MR 080), Geneva & Online

Women in Econ Léman is hosting a public roundtable on "Pathways for More Inclusive Economics Departments - What Works and What Doesn't?" on Monday 13 September, with the support of the Geneva School of Economics and Management. The event will take place in-person at Uni Mail, and online through live streaming.

The roundtable will discuss how economics departments can become more inclusive spaces for women, people of color, and other under-represented groups within the profession. The conversation will focus on pathways for more inclusive economics departments specifically centering on (i) what has been tried? (ii) what worked, what did not, and why not? (iii) moving forward: what's next?

Agenda:

  • Introduction by CEPR President, Prof. Beatrice Weder di Mauro (INSEAD and the Graduate Institute)
  • Panellists: Prof. Emmanuelle Auriol (Toulouse School of Economics), Prof. Franciska Krings (University of Lausanne), Prof. Heidi Mirza (Goldsmiths, University of London, UCL, LSE), and Prof. Estefania Santacreu-Vasut (ESSEC Business School)
  • Q&A session.

The event will be held in English.

The public roundtable forms part of the Rare Voices in Economics Conference, a 2-day private, academic event that aims to promote a meaningful exchange among economists of diverse backgrounds, and showcases selected high-quality research presentations.

The conference is organized by Women in Econ Léman; an initiative by Ph.D. students at the University of Geneva, the Graduate Institute, the University of Lausanne, and EPFL, which aims to facilitate a broad conversation on how systemic gender biases affect the research community, and what can be done about it.
