The Innovation Debate 2025
Wednesday 8 January 2025 | 5 pm | Campus Biotech
The GSEM's Center for Innovation & Partnerships, the Geneva Innovation Movement, and Giga are organizing “The Innovation Debate”, an annual event that aims to debate difficult organizational innovation questions.
As the digital world rapidly advances, so does the question of how to best prepare our workforce for tomorrow. Should Geneva, renowned for its international policy expertise, shift its focus toward developing technical skills in coding, data science, and technology development to remain competitive on the global stage? Or should the emphasis remain on digital ethics, policy, and regulation, where Geneva already has considerable influence?
Four high-level managers from across public, private, and international organizations will debate the 2024 motion: “Geneva’s strength in the next decade will be enhanced by fostering technological expertise, coding, and data science skills rather than prioritizing digital ethics, policy, and regulatory knowledge.”
The debate is designed to spur discussion around controversial ideas.
- Speaking for the motion is Deborah Mattitia (KollectiveLabs) and Alexandre Tissot (ART Computer)
- Speaking against the motion is Carmen Hett (UNHCR) and Sebastian Buckup (WEF)
- The evening will be moderated by GSEM Professor Tina Ambos, GSEM Professor Diego Kuonen as the discussant, and Nadine, Social Robot Miralab, from the University of Geneva
