Conference on Global Climate Change by Prof. Henry D. Jacoby

Dr. Henry Donnan Jacoby, Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management will receive a Doctorate Honoris Causa of the University of Geneva to honor his important contributions in the area of Climate Change and in recognition of his strong ties with our university in this area. At this occasion, the Geneva School of Economics and Management organizes this conference to share with academics and the general public this reflection on the role and importance of academic research in tackling complex societal and management issues.
Prof. Jacoby will first present the MIT experience in organizing a forum to provide a non-official, neutral setting for analysis and discussion of science and policy aspects of global environmental change, and for independent assessment of studies and policy proposals.
The conference will be followed by a panel discussion on the role and importance of academic research on the integrated assessment of climate policies and agreements.

Prof. Jacoby has been Director of the Harvard Environmental Systems Program, Director of the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research, Associate Director of the MIT Energy Laboratory, and Chair of the MIT Faculty. He currently serves on a U.S. National Academies Committee to Advise the U.S. Global Change Research Program, and an Academies Committee on Assessing Approaches to Updating the Social Cost of Carbon.
