In this talk, Professor Song will present the context of China's common prosperity goal and what it really means. He will discuss what China has done to achieve this goal, and what remains to be done. Finally, he will propose some policy options for reducing inequality. 

SONG Yang is currently a professor and vice dean of the School of Economics at Renmin University of China. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the Department of Economics at Cornell University. His research focuses on labor and development economics with a special emphasis on income distribution and labor market issues in China. His work has been published in internationally recognized journals such as Health Economics, China Economic Review, Economic Modelling, International Labour Review, Review of Development Economics, etc. He is an associate editor of the SSCI indexed journal China & World Economy, and a referee for journals such as Journal of Comparative Economics, Health Economics, China Economic Review, International Tax and Public Finance.
