Basile Zimmermann est maître d’enseignement et de recherche au rectorat de l’université de Genève où il dirige l’institut Confucius, une plateforme de diplomatie scientifique entre la Chine et la Suisse établie en partenariat avec l’université Renmin. Il collabore également avec Human-IST, le STSLab, ainsi que la Fondation Agalma.
