One of the rectorate's priorities is to highlight the role the university plays in society through the training and knowledge it provides. This is an essential component of our policy of promoting our faculties and more broadly the University of Geneva itself on a regional, national and international level. The International Relations Office assists the rectorate in its efforts to enhance the international standing of UNIGE, both from the point of view of promoting the university, and the point of view of international recruitment (at MA and PhD level).
By promoting the school, the rectorate aims to increase UNIGE's visibility abroad, to promote its courses and to raise awareness of the quality of its teaching and research among partner institutions, potential partners, teachers, students and researchers.
The aim of international recruitment is to attract the right international students to UNIGE (MA, PhD and continuing education) and to contribute to the university's international visibility through the presence of those students.
These actions will help the university to develop partnerships and create international collaboration networks that have the potential to improve the standards of education and research at UNIGE.
To put these plans into action, the International Relations Office, in collaboration with the Communication Service and other relevant departments, is charged with publishing documentation in English, developing a website and study-portal-style platforms, participating in education and recruitment fairs in line with a predefined strategy, representing UNIGE within the various international education associations (EAIE, NAFSA, APAIE, APPLE) and working more closely with the science attachés of Swiss consulates.
Moreover, as the internationalisation of the mobility department consists of not only increasing the number of international students at UNIGE but also encouraging UNIGE students to take advantage of exchange opportunities, the International Relations Office is also working to increase participation through various means (Mobility Desk, International University Exchange Day, Mobility Information Sessions, etc.) throughout the year.
