First cohort of Certificate in Community Interpreting graduates
Joint Higher Education Certificate program run by Kenyatta University and InZone/University of Geneva
InZone is pleased to announce that the graduation ceremony for the first cohort of the InZone/Kenyatta University Higher Education Certificate in Community Interpreting was held on 18 December on the Kenyatta University Campus in Nairobi, Kenya.
The year-long course, which launched in October 2014, was designed to professionalize community interpreting in the Dadaab and Kakuma Refugee Camps and in Nairobi’s urban refugee community.
The course was offered 100% online on InZone’s virtual learning environment, which was accessed through the solar-powered learning hubs installed in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps. It included 25% female learners and boasted a 94% completion rate.
This Higher Education initiative was generously supported by the Canton of Geneva’s Service de solidarité internationale, whose contribution is gratefully acknowledged.
