2016 World Humanitarian Summit hosts events on Education in Emergencies
Special session will launch Education Cannot Wait fund for EiE
The first World Humanitarian Summit aims to develop an agenda for humanitarian action to address future humanitarian challenges.
The summit, which will be held in Istanbul on May 23-24, 2016, includes several education-related events:
Special Session on Education in Emergencies and Protracted Crises
The special session, chaired by Gordon Brown, will launch the Education Cannot Wait fund, providing increased and additional funding for education in emergencies.
Delivering Quality Education in Emergencies: What Needs to Be Done?
Side event organized by INEE, featuring Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the UN Special Envoy for Global Education; the Hon. Julia Gillard, Former Prime Minister of Australia; Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Former Prime Minister of Denmark; Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council; Irina Bokova, Director-General, UNESCO, and Dean Brooks, Director of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies.
