VariaForMea 2016

The doctoral school VariaForMea, supported by the CRUS (Rector’s conference of the Swiss Universities), is happy to announce the fourth three-day Winter School in December 2016.

What:

This year, we would like to offer you the opportunity to meet linguists who are implied in editing, publishing, and writing for broader audience. The invited scholars are Julien Musolino (Rutgers) and Johan Rooryck (Leiden).

The general topic is: "Writing and publishing during an academic career: how, where, with who, when?"

How to apply:

We would like to invite you to submit your application by October 31.
Please send your application to variaformea(at)unige.ch or karoliina.lohiniva(at)unige.ch.

Please note that each participant is expected to present her/his research at least once at the Winter School. If you have not yet presented your work but would like to do so in December, please include a short, max. 250-word abstract in your application.

If you have participated in VariaForMea Winter Schools before, please send us an email confirming your wish to participate (and eventually, your abstract).

If you have not participated in VariaForMea Winter Schools before, please send us a

  • a letter of motivation indicating your status (postgraduate student, PhD student, postdoc), the topic of your current research, and the name of your supervisor;
  • an up-to-date CV; and
  • if you wish to present, your abstract.

The WS begins with lunch in Macolin on December 5, and ends in the afternoon on December 7. More details on the program will be sent as soon as possible. Note that VariaForMea reimburses travel costs at a demi-tarif rate, and all meals are provided to you in Macolin.
