Description

Relatively recent generative approaches to language acquisition (in particular
the work of Yang) have placed the burden of different acquisition
paths on frequency. Here I present work on the acquisition of a seemingly
marginal phenomenon, participle agreement in Romance, at an early stage,
around two years of age. Then I move to the acquisition of word order before
production starts; following Lassotta et al. (2014), I present results on the
comprehension of CLLD in Catalan and the ba construction in Mandarin
Chinese. Based on these studies, I draw some conclusions on acquisition,
frequency and age.
