Arianna Piazzalunga
Assistante of Katerina Ierodiakonou
I earned my BA and MA in Classics at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Normale Superiore. In my MA thesis I focused on the Physics of the early Stoa, discussing the two-principles theory and the role of pneuma in cosmology.
I am currently doing my Phd at the University of Torino under the supervision of Prof. Federico M. Petrucci and at the university of Geneva under the supervision of Katerina Ierodiakonou. My project focuses on the Stoic threads in post-Hellenistic Platonism. In particular, my purpose is to discuss how the notion of cause as it is understood in post-Hellenistic Platonism, thought being presented as a thoroughly Platonic view, is strongly mediated by the early Stoic approach. I would like to explore further how this new conception of cause interacts with the Platonic ideas and with the world soul.
