[1079] Intelligence and Medical Emergency Decision
The CRIMED – CRisis Intelligence and Medical Emergency Decision research group develops scientific and technological approaches aimed at improving the ability of emergency systems to anticipate and manage health crises, and to support medical decision-making in critical situations marked by uncertainty.
Emergency systems today operate in a rapidly changing environment: increasing volumes of available data, the development of artificial intelligence, advances in communication technologies, and the emergence of new devices enabling the remote acquisition of physiological information. These developments open up new possibilities for emergency medicine and medical dispatch, but also introduce new challenges in terms of organization, decision-making, and professional training.
The CRIMED group adopts an interdisciplinary approach combining emergency medicine, data science, operations research, engineering, and education sciences. Its work is structured around three main areas:
- the development of innovative approaches for the early detection of health and environmental crises (Interreg GESICA project), as well as the use of innovative technologies for their management;
- operations research applied to medical dispatch, including the integration of new remote data acquisition tools (photoplethysmography, connected stethoscopes, live video, smartphones) and the modeling of decision-making processes;
- the development of new training approaches based on immersive simulation, mixed reality, and serious games within the LiveSIMED Lab.
By combining technological innovation, scientific analysis of decision-making processes, and new educational approaches, the CRIMED group contributes to improving the quality, safety, and resilience of emergency systems in the face of health and environmental crises.
