CRTOH member Valentina Garibotto appointed Head of Diagnostic Department at HUG

The Translational Research Center in Onco-Hematology (CRTOH) warmly congratulates Professor Valentina Garibotto on her appointment as Head of the Diagnostic Department at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). She will assume her new role on 1 October 2026.

A valued member of the CRTOH, Professor Garibotto is internationally recognized for her expertise in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and translational research. Her appointment reflects a distinguished career dedicated to advancing diagnostic innovation, patient care, and biomedical research.

Professor Garibotto obtained her medical degree and specialist certification in nuclear medicine at San Raffaele Hospital and the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy. Since joining HUG more than a decade ago, she has become a leading figure in the field of medical imaging and was appointed Full Professor at the University of Geneva in 2025.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities as Head of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Professor Garibotto coordinates activities within the Preclinical Imaging Platform and the Preclinical Imaging Section of the Centre for Biomedical Imaging (CIBM). She also leads an internationally recognized research group focusing on the development of novel radiopharmaceuticals and the study of neurodegenerative diseases.

As a member of CRTOH, Professor Garibotto contributes to the center’s mission of fostering interdisciplinary and translational research. Her expertise in advanced imaging technologies plays a key role in supporting precision medicine approaches and strengthening collaborations across oncology, hematology, and biomedical sciences.

Beyond her institutional responsibilities, Professor Garibotto serves as President of the Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), contributing to the development of international standards in imaging and nuclear therapies.
