TANDEM: un appel à projets de recherche translationnelle sur le cancer, co-dirigés par un clinicien et un spécialiste en recherche fondamentale
Il est largement admis que la créativité et l’innovation naissent à l’interface de disciplines dans lesquelles deux manières de penser s’associent pour résoudre un problème commun. Les équipes interdisciplinaires ou multidisciplinaires sont motivées par le défi de l’objectif qu’elles partagent et par les manières différentes d’aborder le sujet, formant ainsi une collaboration coopérative, et non compétitive. Le pôle AGORA de recherche sur le cancer a été construit dans le but de réunir des chercheurs issus de différentes institutions autour d’un objectif commun: le développement de thérapies et de méthodes diagnostiques innovantes pour les patients atteints d’un cancer. Ingénieurs de l’EPFL, chercheurs académiques de l’UNIL et de l'UNIGE, ainsi que cliniciens actifs dans la recherche au CHUV à Lausanne et aux HUG à Genève y travaillent sous un même toit. La Fondation ISREC lance cet appel à projets qui doit être soumis par des tandems, composés d’un clinicien et d’un chercheur ayant conçu conjointement un projet de recherche translationnelle qu’ils co-dirigeront.
Le programme Tandem octroiera des bourses de 2 ou 3 ans pour le salaire de postdoctorants ou d’assistants de recherche encadrés à part égale par un clinicien et un chercheur/ingénieur.

Call for projects – ISREC Foundation
TANDEM: A call for translational cancer research projects co-led by one clinician and one scientist engaged in basic research
It is widely agreed that creativity and innovation take place at the interface of disciplines, when two mind-sets meet to solve a common problem. Inter- or multi-disciplinary teams are motivated by the challenge of sharing a common goal, and by coming at it from different angles – forming a cooperative, not competitive collaboration. The AGORA cancer research center was built by the ISREC Foundation to bring together researchers from different institutions with a common goal – that of developing innovative therapies and diagnostics for cancer patients. Engineers from EPFL, academic researchers from UNIL and UNIGE, and clinician scientists from the CHUV in Lausanne and the HUG in Geneva work under one roof. The ISREC Foundation is launching this call for projects to be submitted by pairs of clinicians and research scientists (one each) who have jointly designed a translational research project that they will co-lead.
The Tandem program will fund 2- or 3-year grants for the salaries of postdocs or research assistants who will be co-supervised by a team of equals – one clinician and one research scientist/engineer.
