The Geneva Centre for Inflammation Research (GCIR) is composed of basic and clinical scientists working in a multidisciplinary environment along three main research axes. Its researchers investigate the mechanisms involved in immune dysfunction that can result in harmful responses against our body’s own structures as seen in numerous chronic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Furthermore, they elucidate the host response to pathogens including virus and bacteria and their mechanisms to evade immune surveillance. Finally, they address how the different components of the immune system mature, how immune cells circulate and reach the various organs in order to trigger an inflammatory response.
