Christine Clavien est philosophe des sciences et de la morale. Après une thèse sur l’éthique évolutionniste menée en cotutelle aux Universités de Neuchâtel (Suisse) et Paris I, et un post-doctorat à Columbia University (New York), elle a travaillé comme première assistante, puis maître assistante au Département d’Ecologie et d’Evolution à l’Université de Lausanne, avant de rejoindre l’Institut Ethique Histoire Humanités (iEH2) en 2015 en tant que Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche, puis Professeure Associée depuis 2022.

Actuellement, elle est membre de la de la Commission nationale d'éthique dans le domaine de la médecine humaine (CNE), de la Commission fédérale d'éthique pour les biotechnologies dans le domaine non humain (CENH, Suisse) et du groupe de travail national « Planification anticipée concernant la santé ».
