GAVI awarded the 2019 Lasker-Bloomberg Award

Berkley_2018.jpgThe Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation has awarded Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, its prestigious 2019 Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award. Gavi is hereby rewarded for saving millions of lives by giving children access to immunization around the world. Seth Berkley, director of Gavi, is also a professor at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine.  A physician and epidemiologist specializing in infectious diseases, he is involved in research and teaching projects at the Institute of Global Health in his field of expertise.

"It is a great honour for us to receive such a prestigious award," says Professor Seth Berkley. "Our collective work as an Alliance has prevented more than 10 million deaths in developing countries while child mortality was halved largely thanks to immunisation. I couldn’t be prouder of what we have accomplished together.»
