Dr. Jean Simos has a Doctor of Science degree from the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). He is currently the Director of the Environment and Health Research Group (GRES), in the Institute of Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland. He teaches multiple courses, mostly in the Master’s degree in Environmental Science (MUSE) and in the School of Medicine. Dr. Simos has 25 years of experience in the development and management of public health programmes at the local level, and an increasing engagement with Healthy Cities and Health Impact Assessments in Europe and the Francophone world. Dr. Simos is considered a key actor in Healthy City developments in Europe and Africa, and has an excellent track record in operating at the interface between practice and political decision-making. He is also an international expert in multiple criteria decision aid (ELECTRE methods and their implementation in Environmental Health). Since 2011, he is a member of the French High Council for Public Health and visitor Professor at the Faculty of Medecine of the University of Liège (Belgium).
