Benedetta is a medical doctor by background, with a master in tropical medicine and global health. She has dedicated the past years to the global health sector trying to commit for a better health for the most vulnerable people. She has been working as research assistant in maternal and child health since 2018, and she is currently involved in the Italian Global Burden of Disease Initiative. Her main research topics are maternal and child health, with a specific focus on adolescent health, non-communicable diseases, gender-based violence, and global health policy.
· Why is this PhD important for you (for your career, organization or country)
The PhD is an incredible learning opportunity and gives the possibility to improve academic skills and achieve personal career goals. Moreover, the program allows to contribute to the global health field, with the aim to ensure health equity and improve the quality of health for all people everywhere. On this regard, my research project will provide strong evidence to address the burden of non-communicable diseases on the lives of adolescents, a population that has been largely overlooked by global health and social policies. The project will also aim to direct policymakers in targeting dedicated interventions for the study population.
