Eduardo Schiffer qualified as a doctor in 1990, then undertook post-graduate training in anaesthesiology. Affiliated with the HUG's anaesthesiology investigations laboratory, he focused his research on haemodynamic changes in septic shock. He then went on to train as a clinician in internal medicine (specialist title in 1996), before returning to anaesthesiology to obtain his specialist title in 1999. After a time at Paris Descartes University, he continued his research into lung diseases associated with end-stage liver failure. He has been staff physician since 2010, in charge of the Outpatient Anaesthesiology, Digestive, Urological and Orthopaedic Unit, and his clinical work focuses on major abdominal surgery, in particular liver and kidney transplants. Since 2014, Eduardo Schiffer has been in charge of the clinical skills teaching programme for the Bachelor's and Master's courses at the Faculty of Medicine. Appointed assistant professor in 2017, he was promoted to associate professor in 2019 and then to full professor in September 2025 in the Department of Anaesthesiology, Pharmacology Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine at UNIGE Faculty of Medicine.
