PhD defence of Mrs Kenza Fouad

Last November 30th , Mrs Kenza FOUAD defended brilliantly her PhD thesis on Metabolic Modulation of The β1 Integrin Acetylation Modulates Fibroblasts Adhesions, Growth and Fibronectin Assembly. Her thesis was conducted under the direction of Prof. Bernhard WEHRLE-HALLER from the Department of Cell physiology and metabolism.

Wound healing is a complex and fragile process. When disrupted, it might lead to an excessive extracellular matrix deposition and pave the way for cancer development. Kenza FOUAD has explored the potential role of acetylation on fibroblasts, and how this affects growth, adhesion and extra-cellular matrix synthesis. Her experiments  suggest that the acetylation of extracellular matrix receptors is modulated to influence the extracellular matrix deposition.
