PhD defence of Mr Christopher Henry

On September 30 2021, Mr Christopher Henry has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Regulation of calcium fluxes at endoplasmic reticulum-plasma membrane contact sites". His thesis was conducted under the direction of Prof. Nicolas Demaurex from the Department of Cell physiology and metabolism.

Calcium plays important roles in cell biology, but some of its mechanisms of regulation remain still unknown.  Christopher Henry has studied the role of the store-operated calcium entry (SOCE), a pathway involved in immune system activation, and more specifically its relationship with contact sites between the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum. His PhD thesis provides new insights into the regulation of calcium.
