A review on S100 proteins in the liver

 

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a very frequent and slow progressing disease which can eventually give rise to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. The lack of drugs to treat fatty liver disease or hepatocellular carcinoma led researchers from Prof. Michelangelo Foti’s laboratory to review the role of proteins from the S100 family.
