PhD defence of Mr Romain Bodinier

This May 4, Mr Romain Bodinier defended with success his PhD thesis on Intracellular killing in D. discoideum: role of Vps13F and LrrkA.

His thesis was conducted under the direction of Prof. Pierre Cosson from the Faculty of Medicine.

Understanding the defence mechanisms of the immune system and how bacteria are killed is a key area of medical research. Using the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum as a model, Mr Romain Bodinier studied intracellular killing of bacteria. During his PhD thesis, he highlighted two elimination pathways that are distinguished in particular by their sensitivity to folate.
