Soutenance de Mme Simona Abbatemarco

This last December 17th, Mrs Simona Abbatemarco defended brilliantly her PhD thesis on PQN-59 function in C. elegans: From cell division to stress granule formation. Her thesis was conducted under the direction of Prof. Monica GOTTA from the Department of Cell physiology and metabolism.

Cell division is a fundamental process essential for the growth of an organism. The tiny worm C. elegans offers great opportunities to study not only cell division, but also cell reactions to environmental stressors. With her Phd thesis, Simona Abbatemarco has provided new insights into the potential role of the protein PQN-59 in both cell division and stress granule formation.
