Translational Biomarker Group
The group is focused on translational research in 3 main areas (metabolism, neurobiology and retinopathy) integrating the skills of researchers in biology, biochemistry and chemistry, bio-computer scientists and clinicians. Metabolic research targets the discovery of new molecular mechanisms involved in glucolipotoxicity such as the ß-cell (pancreas) dysfunction and glycation of proteins. Research in neurobiology has as objective the identification, development and implementation of diagnostic and prognostic markers of brain pathologies such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and human African trypanosomiasis. Finally, the third part aims at discovering biomarker in tears and aqueous humor and this in pathologies associated with the retina such as different types of retinal ischemia.
