TEO offers support in rapidly developing technologies based on spheroids, organoids and bioengineered tissues (3D printing, hydrogels) which phenocopy the cellular composition and, to a certain degree, the functionality of virtually all human tissues, including cancer modeling and even early embryos.
Such “microphysiological systems” allow for investigating the development of healthy and diseased multi-cellular tissues, their response to mutations, damage or drugs, thus offering great potential for translational research, while complying with the 3R principle.
TEO missions
- Provide state-of-the-art tools and expertise in stem cells, organoids and tissue engineering.
- Foster collaboration between CMU and HUG research communities.
- Facilitate the transition from laboratory discoveries to medical advancements.
