As already mentioned in our previous Newsletter, a new Commission universitaire d'éthique de la recherche (CUREG) has been set up to respond to UNIGE researchers' requests in this regard. For the same purpose, the Research Services (Euresearch) has also prepared a Fact Sheet on the main ethical issues related to the European Framework Program for Research and Innovation - Horizon 2020. |
Data Management Plan: How to fill the DMP from the SNF? |
From now on, for submitting queries, the SNSF requires information about the data lifecycle via its DMP form. The Division of Computer Science organizes training workshops. The workshop lasts 1h 30, discusses the type, and needs of information that must be mentioned. The public concerned by these workshops are the researchers, teachers, doctoral students, post-docs, administrative and technical staff of UNIGE. The next workshops will take place : |
Open Access et FNS

The SNSF has decided to implement Open Access for all SNSF-funded publications as of 2020. To facilitate the implementation, SNSF issues new regulations that will enter into force on 1 April 2018. Application can be made from October 1st : Possibility of filing an application a posteriori for a manuscript published before October 1st. Informations. |
Open Access : Publishing funding |
Following the adoption of the Swiss National Strategy on Open Access in January 2017, the Rectorate approved (04.12.2017) the creation of a central fund to cover part of the cost of publishing (Article Processing Charges or APCs) in Gold Open Access journals, or for books and books chapters that follow similar principles. The fund is available from 2018 for a pilot year. Its management is entrusted to the Scientific Information Division (DIS). For details on allocation criteria. |

H2020-MSCA-Individual Fellowships (IF) |
Six projects with UNIGE participation have been selected for European funding under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA). All of them concern the Faculty of Science and five out of the six fellows are female researchers. IF are individual fellowships at the postdoctoral level for experienced researchers who wish to develop their career prospects with a research experience abroad. All scientific domains can benefit from an IF, with free choice of topic. Search in neurology: the Théodore Ott Fund |
ASSM puts in the competition 200'000 francs from the Théodore Ott Fund to support the search in clinical neurology or translationelle. Subsidies, until 80'000 francs can be given by project are intended first and foremost for young scientists (< 45 years) or research groups to realize a research project in a Swiss High School. |
Novartis FreeNovation : call for project 2018 |
FreeNovation provides funding opportunities for innovative, substantial-risk projects that would typically have difficulty getting funding. Projects should be relevant to biomedical research with the ultimate aim of providing innovative healthcare solutions for patients. With this program, Novartis wants to encourage researchers in pursuing unconventional ideas and enhance the attractiveness of Switzerland as a center for research. The call 2018 is open for proposals in the field of artificial intelligence. Researchers with or without an established track record are invited to submit proposals.
With an emphasis on originality, interdisciplinary projects and proposals from scientists inside or outside of traditional disciplines are welcome. |

Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme: Call for Joint Research Projects |
In the context of the bilateral programmes initiated by the federal government, the SNSF and the Indian Department of Biotechnology (DBT) are issuing a call for Joint Research Projects (JRPs).. The SNSF will cover the project costs incurred in Switzerland, and the DBT the costs in India. Under the current call, the two organisations plan to fund up to twelve projects for a duration of four years. |
