Nurturing a Culture of Responsible Research in the Era of Open Science

The Research Services, in collaboration with the League of European Research Universities (LERU), is organizing a workshop on “Nurturing a Culture of Responsible Research in the Era of Open Science”, on 24 and 25 May 2018.
Scientific integrity is a crucial issue for excellence in research. The era of Open Science opens new challenges but also new opportunities for research integrity at the political, institutional and scientific levels. Last but not least, the question of the «right» support system for researchers in this context is of crucial importance. All these issues will be tackled at the workshop through round table discussions, keynote speeches and an interactive world café. With contributions of speakers from the European Commission, SNSF, UNIGE and other LERU universities.
Targeted audience : Researchers, administrative staff (IT, libraries, Techtransfers, Legal officers etc.), vice-rectors research and those in charge of research integrity and digitalisation

European digital health/care research

A new EU document with important implications on health research (H2020-HEALTH-IMI-INFRASTRUCTURES) has been published End of April.
The Commission Communication on “Enabling the digital transformation of health and care in the digital single market; empowering citizens and building a healthier society” was adopted on 25 April 2018. It focuses on the digital aspects of health and care and one of the main pillars is related to research – Personalised medicine through shared European data infrastructure. The case is made for the need for coordination mechanisms between authorities and other stakeholders to share, at EU-level, data and infrastructure for prevention and personalised medicine research and to develop the needed building blocks that would guarantee secure access and the feasibility of cross-border data exchanges for health research purposes.
