Who

This training is aimed at researchers, scientists and innovators based in Switzerland who are planning to submit a collaborative Horizon Europe proposal and have already identified a possible topic of interest.

Participation requirements: to ensure that participants can fully benefit from the hands-on workshop, applicants should:

• Have already identified a Horizon Europe Pilar II topic and be involved in the preparation of a Horizon Europe collaborative proposal, either as a coordinator or a project partner (beneficiary).
• Complete the mandatory self-study component prior to the workshop, including the pre-recorded video modules (approximately 2 hours of preparation).
• Be willing to actively engage in practical exercises, discussions, and group work throughout the training.

Part 1: Foundations of Horizon Europe proposal writing (videos to be watched prior to the workshop)

In concise pre-recorded video modules, our experts will guide you through the three main sections of the Horizon Europe proposal template.

You will gain insights into the key requirements, best practices, and strategies to effectively write your proposals.

The videos will be available for registered participants.

Viewing of the videos is mandatory and a prerequisite for participation in the on-site training.

Part 2: Interactive hands-On Training (on-site - 31 August)

This highly interactive workshop translates theory into practice. Working with proposal examples and case studies, participants will apply the concepts introduced in the video modules and develop key proposal-writing skills through practical exercises.

The workshop will explore topics such as interpreting Horizon Europe topic texts, developing credible “pathways to impact” and how to exploit them, identifying and managing project risks and barriers, and using AI tools to support proposal development.

Participants will receive expert feedback and benefit from peer learning through small-group discussions and collaborative exercises.

Participation is conditional upon completion of Part 1.

Objectives/ outcomes

Following the training, participants will:

• Have a clear understanding of the key success factors for Horizon Europe collaborative proposals.
• Be better equipped to contribute to or lead proposal-writing efforts.
• Gain practical experience through realistic proposal-development exercises.
• Apply good proposal-writing practices to future Horizon Europe submissions.
• Increase their confidence in developing competitive Horizon Europe proposals.

The training will be conducted in English and will not be recorded.

Using the following registration form, participants will be asked to provide their basic contact details, their current position and additional information (area of activity and HE topic of interest, etc). This information will be used by the organizers to invite a selected number of participants to the event.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory, via the link below before 14 August 2026.

Places are limited and registration might close earlier if the maximum number of participants (30) is reached.
