European Framework Programme for Innovation and Research (Horizon 2020)

Thanks to bilateral agreements between Switzerland and the European Union, Swiss organisations can benefit of EU major initiatives in Research and Innovation that invest in European industry for a modern, clean and fair economy. In particular, Switzerland participates as an associated state to Horizon 2020, giving to Swiss researchers and enterprises the same rights as their European partners.
The strategic innovation approach aims to empower citizens, revitalise regions and have the best technologies for the smart, clean and innovative industry of the future. The final aim is to effectively convert research into improved quality of life, goods, services, or processes for the market.
The European Commission considers SMEs as key to ensuring economic growth, innovation, job creation, and social integration in the EU. To develop the full innovation capacity of SMEs, the EC funds their participation in research, development and innovation projects, promotes the creation of a favourable ecosystem for SME innovation and growth and facilitates access to financial instruments.
