Yves Flückiger, vice-recteur
Né le 2 novembre 1955, originaire de Ruegsau (BE), Yves Flückiger a suivi une formation universitaire en économie et en sociologie à l'Université de Genève. Il y obtient en 1983 son doctorat en économie. Yves Flückiger a été chercheur associé aux Universités de Harvard (USA) et d'Oxford (GB) et professeur invité aux Universités de Fribourg, Lausanne et Deakin (Australie).
Depuis 1992, il est professeur ordinaire au Département des sciences économiques de l'Université de Genève, dont il a été de 2004 à 2007 le directeur. Il dirige également l'Observatoire universitaire de l'emploi et est membre associé du Centre interuniversitaire sur le risque, les politiques économique et l'emploi (CIRPEE) de l'Université de Québec (Montréal). Depuis juillet 2007, il est vice-recteur de l'Université de Genève, en charge actuellement des finances, des relations internationales, du plan stratégique et de la convention d'objectifs.
Par ailleurs, il a fait partie de nombreuses commissions fédérales, en particulier de la Commission de la concurrence dont il a assuré la vice-présidence de 2003 à 2007, et du Conseil national de la recherche (FNRS) entre 1998 et mars 2008.

Professor Yves Flueckiger has studied sociology and economics at the University of Geneva, where he received his Ph.D. He is Full Professor at the Department of Economics since 1992. He is also member of the Board of the Applied Economics Centre (LEA) and of the Employment Centre. From 1996 to 2003, he has been Member and then, between 2003 and 2007, Vice-President of the Swiss Competition Commission. Since July 2007 he is Vice-Rector of the University of Geneva in charge of finance, international relations and strategic plan.
His scientific interests include wage inequality and discrimination, policies to implement gender equal opportunity, unemployment policies and working conditions in diverse labour markets. He has taught International internship Courses on Labour and Social Policies to Promote Decent Work organized by the International institute for Labour Studies. He also teaches Labour Economics, Industrial Organization and Public Finance.
Yves Flueckiger has been Research Associate at the Universities of Harvard (USA) and Oxford (UK) and Invited Professor at the Universities of Lausanne, Fribourg (Switzerland) and Deakin (Australia). He has written numerous books and published over 110 articles in international reviews (among others, The International Trade Journal, Economics Letters, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Income Distribution, The Oxford Bulletin of Economic and Statistics, Swiss Journal of Economics and Statistics, Economie Appliquée).
During last years, he received research grants from the Swiss National Foundation for Scientific Research for different projects concerning migrations, gender wage differentials, gender segregation and new forms of employment.
