Vivien Fisch-Romito is a postdoctoral researcher at the Renewable Energy Systems group of the University of Geneva since November 2021. He’s interested in investigating the technical, economical and institutional feasibility of low-carbon pathways using data analysis and prospective modelling. As part of the Swiss National Science Foundation project "Accuracy », his research focuses on the development of a socio-technical energy transition model to improve the accuracy of long-range energy projections for 31 European countries.

Prior to joining the group, he was at Centre International de Recherche sur l’Environnement et le Développement (CIRED) in Paris where he obtained his PhD in Environmental Economics in February 2021 from Ecole des Ponts. He analysed the global infrastructure stock dynamics as a key factor for climate-development conciliation through three topics : i) the carbon lock-in - the inertia on future emissions reduction - induced by short-term infrastructure development, (ii) the limited financing for investment, and (iii) the carbon space for sufficient basic infrastructure development.
